Let me start by saying these rumors are most likely fake. Blogs like Search Engine Journal take the fact that just because the stock price rose by nearly 19% for Yahoo!, it dropped earlier this morning.

Yahoo! is "in the process of rolling out some changes to our search results. As usual, you may be seeing some changes in ranking as well as some shuffling of the pages that are included in the index throughout this process. This update began on Sunday night and should be complete by tomorrow morning." »

As part of its legal fight against publisher and author groups suing it over its book-scanning practices, Google sent subpoenas to Microsoft, Amazon.com, and Yahoo to gather information about their participation in similar book-archiving operations. »

While browsing for a way to unfreeze my frozen iPod on Yahoo!, I went through some decent search results, but when I reached the bottom of the page, the following image caught my eye:

The positive part about Yahoo! Answers is the fact that most people would rather click to view other response’s to the same question they are looking to answer. This would be much more simpler than having to weed through numerous search results which display text which might not exactly provide you a definitive answer to your question/search query.
It looks like Yahoo! Answers are really pushing their new service, but they are not confident that they have not built up a decent database of questions. I would personally suggest that they place their top Yahoo! Answers Result right between the fifth and sixth result if they believe that it can truly help the search query.
Yahoo! could probably better their search algorithm to offer more than links to other websites, unlike Google and MSN. Yahoo! could actually provide useful results to their visitors while growing an enormous community. I have high hopes for Yahoo! Answers!

For a long time, Yahoo seemed to be the only real player in the search engine market. Somewhere along the way, they became a hybrid search engine and web directory, allowing more than one way for users to find websites they are looking for. Being yanked highly in Yahoo allows you to have the best of both worlds. »

Yahoo! launched their very own Yahoo! Search Marketing Blog. There doesn’t seem to be much activity at the moment, but considering their other recently released blog, Yahoo! Search Blog, I don’t think this would be a lot different. It would simply have a different layout, but most likely cover the same topic. However, I don’t think the Yahoo! Search Blog contained much of anything that was interesting. Hopefully the new one will be better!
