Well every SEO is outraged with Wikipedia placing nofollow tags on all outbound links, in fear of the great amount of spam they would receive from the GlobalWarming Awareness2007 SEO Contest.
Most people are looking at the negative side of this. However, me being the optimist I am, am happy because I don’t have any Wikipedia pages sending me traffic.
Nevertheless, I know that my competitors use Wikipedia pages to give them some link love. Well if you want to be a cruel SEO, you can place nofollow tags on their URL’s simply by updating the page. This means that existing links do not have a nofollow tag unless they are updated!

Due to the recent GlobalWarming Awareness2007 SEO Contest, the founder of Wikipedia has made all outbound links tagged with a nofollow for fear that many SEO’s will be trying to spam their pages for links to their websites.

It seems that the excitement caused by SEO Contests has not yet fully died out. A new website has risen and they plan on holding an SEO Contest on a yearly basis - SEO World Championship. I have already mentioned their website before, but the keywords for the 2007 SEO Contest has been announced earlier this week.
The keywords are - “globalwarming awareness2007”. These keywords were chosen to help others understand & be educated about the global warming issues.
I won’t be participating in any more SEO Contests, but a friend of mine is, so take a look at his globalwarming awareness2007 site.

Just went over to Stuntdubl’s Blog and it seems that he has been hacked. The website isn’t loading correctly (or the template isn’t) and all the permalinks are redirecting to FuckingPirate - a WordPress hacker.

Yahoo! launched a new Search Engine Crawler last week (July 28th, 2006), Yahoo! Slurp, which is believed to be more efficient at crawling websites and indexing them.
Yahoo! states that they will crawl websites while only requesting 25% less than before, saving website owners a lot of bandwidth.
Most webmasters may have noticed a lot of inflatuations in the Yahoo! SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page) over the week. They are currently trying to transition to Yahoo! Slurp, which might take a little bit more time. However, the transition has gone pretty smoothly and they have claimed that they have transitioned correctly.

Most of you have already heard about Digg, the most widely known website which lets their users decide which posts or articles are worth being displayed on the main page. We have even placed links at the bottom of our posts which let our visitors “digg” our posts if they think they are good. Well, now their is a new website which does the same things except it is for posts/articles related ONLY to SEO (Search Engine Optimization)! That’s right, they function similarly to Digg, but has a different design. The website is located at:
http://www.searchenginepress.com/
You will be able to have your own profile. Posts/articles will be placed in “The SandBox” until they are accepted onto the main page. Instead of “Diggs” they will be “Votes” and usually people will get 10 Votes. We have started submitting our posts and hope you will Vote for Us! Also, we are thinking of adding a link near the bottom of our posts which let you vote for posts you like from our website.
Here’s a small snapshot of their layout:
